Our Equipment

Our equipment is large enough to handle significant rock. Our 500 series rig has torque capabilities of 45,000 foot-pounds and pull back capabilities of 400,000 pounds. We typically run our own design of hole openers that are built from large diameter tungsten carbide button bits. This is not normal for contractors. It is an expensive approach. We think it pays dividends because we are able to handle formation changes and it is almost unheard of for us to wear out a  reamer on one job.

Our normal job configuration is one where we are able to place complete mud systems on both ends of the drill. It is common for circulation to change from entrance to exit pits continually on a job and we rig up to pump from either side. It is rare for us to use tank trucks to move fluid from the exit to the entrance as a normal course of work.

Drilling Fluid System

We are fortunate to have several mud systems each of which have multiple
components. We are able to arrange them differently for individual project
demands.

Our standard set up for both the rig side and pipe side is as  follows:

Rig Side

Ellis Williams 440 Triplex with 4.5-inch liners and 5-inch stroke

  • Hydraulic powered fan agitator
  • 55-barrel mix tank
  • Derrick 2000 lineal shaker
  • 280-barrel shaker pit
  • Godwin "Dri Prime" 4-inch centrifugal pump

Pipe Side

Ellis Williams Engineering 447 Triplex with 6.5-inch liners and 7-inch stroke

  • Hydraulic powered fan agitator
  • 90-barrel mix tank
  • Derrick 2000 lineal shaker
  • 310 barrel shaker pit
  • Godwin "Dri Prime" 4-inch centrifugal pump
